How To Make a Custom Grinder Case!
A neighbor was kind enough to loan me his grinder, a Bosch GWS-6-100. It is a nice unit and did what I needed it to do, even if it was in kinda rough shape and a little on the under-maintained side.
Anyways, as a gesture of thanks, I decided to clean it up and make a custom case for it, and also load the case with all kinds of extras. I bought a buffing pad, a wire wheel, a backing pad and some sanding disks. I also bought some cutoff wheels and a good old grinding disk.
First, I looked around for a suitable case - which I was able to locate in a nearby pile of construction waste. Someone had abandoned a drill case to the elements some years ago, and it seemed to be around the right size. I was also able to find some foam in the same place, enough to fill the case with four layers.
The final piece of the puzzle was how to close the case - it had been abandoned because its clasps had broken somehow. I fixed this with a few pieces of well-positioned Velcro.
Ultimately I was very pleased with the result of this project. I think anyone could reproduce it with a little time and patience now that they've seen me do it, and can follow the steps I used.
